Half Day Fly Fishing Charters – Launceston Region

Tasmania Fly Fishing Charters - Rates and Tour Details

$450.00 – 1 x Angler & 1 x Guide

$250.00 per extra Angler ($100 per non Angler Guest)

Our Tasmania fly fishing charters include flexible half day tours that are ideal for visitors on a tight schedule or anyone wanting to sample fly fishing for the first time.

Operating from Launceston, these guided sessions focus on trout fishing in nearby rivers, streams, and small lagoons — meaning less time travelling and more time on the water. Whether you’re a total beginner or just looking to squeeze in a few quality hours on the fly, this tour is a great fit.

Expect expert local tuition, quality fly fishing gear, and the chance to explore some of the beautiful waters of Northern Tasmania. Despite the shorter format, we maintain a high success rate and can often tailor the experience to suit your interest — from wading quiet rivers to sight-fishing in small stillwaters.

Session times:

  • Morning: 8:30am–12:30pm

  • Afternoon: 1:30pm–5:30pm

  • Early or late sessions available on request.

All half day charters include:

  • Premium fly fishing gear (rods, reels, flies, waders)

  • Local transport from Launceston

  • Light refreshments

  • Friendly, experienced guide

3/4 Day Fly Fishing Charters – Local and more remote fisheries

Tasmania fly fishing charters – guided trout tours, rates, and tour details

$600.00 – 1 x Angler & 1 x Guide

$300.00 per extra Angler ($125 per non Angler Guest)

Looking for a guided fly fishing tour in Tasmania that offers more time on the water — without committing to a full day? Our three quarter day Tasmania fly fishing charters are the perfect middle ground.

Departing from Launceston, these 6-hour tours allow a bit more travel time than a half day, which means we can reach more variety or scenic waters. Whether we head into the Tasmanian highlands, explore a reasonably remote lake, or fish local streams, your guide will tailor the trip to suit the conditions and your preferences.

This pace suits anglers who want:

  • A generous amount of fishing time

  • The option to reach more remote or higher elevation waters

  • A less intense outing than a full day

You’ll enjoy a good rhythm of instruction, exploration, and time to settle into the experience — especially helpful if you’re new to fly fishing or easing back into it.

Typical timing:

  • 10:00am – 4:00pm (6 hours total)

  • Departures from Launceston (unless agreed otherwise)

Inclusions:

  • Premium fly fishing gear (rods, reels, waders, flies)

  • Local transport

  • Full Catering – from our ‘fishing fuel’ menu

  • Experienced, friendly guide

Specialty Tours – Unique Options for Tasmania Fly Fishing Charters

Tasmania Fly Fishing Charters - Rates and Tour Details

As part of our Tasmania fly fishing charters, we offer a range of specialty guided tours for anglers looking to fish premium waters, meet at remote locations, or tailor their day around travel plans. Below are some of our most popular custom experiences, including access to exclusive private lakes and options for fly fishing adventures that begin outside Launceston.

These tours include the same high-quality gear, expert tuition, and personal service as our standard tours — with added flexibility to suit your travel and fishing goals.

Currawong Lakes – Private Fly Fishing in Tasmania’s Eastern Highlands

A highlight of our specialty offerings, Currawong Lakes is a pristine private fishery set in Tasmania’s Eastern Highlands. This destination offers three spring-fed lakes with wild-conditioned brown trout plus some stocked rainbow trout — perfect for anglers seeking clear water, possibility of trophy fish, and still-water sight fishing.

We guide at Currawong regularly and tailor the day to suit each guest, whether you’re new to fly fishing or chasing a trophy brown.

Currawong Lakes Tour Options (meet on location):

  • Half Day – $525 1st angler + $325 per extra angler (includes lake access fee)

  • Three Quarter Day – $725 1st angler + $425 per extra angler (includes lake access fee)

  • Full Day – $900 1st angler + $500 per extra angler (includes lake access fee)

All Currawong Lakes specialty tours are “meet on location” unless otherwise arranged.

Currawong Lakes Tour – Departing Launceston

For those based in Launceston, we also offer a full day Tasmania fly fishing charter to Currawong Lakes with return transport included.

  • Timing: 9:00am – 5:00pm (approx. 3 hours return travel)

  • Fishing Time: ~4 to 4.5 hours on the water

  • Full Day – $875 1st angler + $475 per extra angler (includes lake access fee)

  • This option allows you to relax and enjoy a highland lake experience without the need to self-drive.

Custom Fly Fishing Tours – Remote Departures or Extended Guiding

Some anglers prefer to meet guides at more remote locations or extend their trip to allow for greater travel time. We offer custom Tasmania fly fishing charters that provide extra flexibility.

If you’re heading to an out-of-the-way area or want to do a full day’s guiding that begins outside Launceston, we can quote an adjusted rate to cover guide travel time and logistics.

  • Customisation fee: Calculated based on distance and hours

  • Fishing time: Full day guiding is still prioritised

  • Availability: Subject to guide availability and travel feasibility

Notes on Specialty Tours

  • All gear, instruction, catering, and transport (if applicable) are included.

  • Currawong access fees are set by the property and directly support the fishery.

  • Specialty tours must be booked in advance.
